Johannesburg, August 16 2016: NPI Governance Consulting is pleased to announce that prominent businesswoman, Cheryl Carolus has been appointed as Non-Executive Chairperson of NPI Governance Consulting. Ms Carolus will play a strategic and influential role as NPI Governance Consulting increases in capacity to assist its clients in transforming their businesses.
Her appointment comes at a time when South Africa celebrates Women’s month; a month that amplifies the celebration of women who have transcended the limitations of the corporate and business landscape, providing leadership and exemplifying that women are equally capable to meet the demands and challenges of commerce with vigor and command. As pioneers of transformation in South Africa, Cheryl Carolus is the quintessential lady who embodies our ethos and provides for evidence that transformation is essentially viable.
Ms. Carolus is also Non-Executive Chairman of Peotona Group Holdings. She is a director on the boards of several listed and unlisted companies including De Beers and Investec. Currently, she is the Chairperson of Gold Fields, an international mining company. She also served as Chairperson of the Board of South African Airways. Ms Carolus has also previously held senior leadership positions in the liberation movement in South Africa. She worked closely with Nelson Mandela and helped to negotiate the new South African constitution. She served as South Africa’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom from 1998 to 2001 and was the CEO of SA Tourism from 2001 to 2004. She was Chairperson of South African National Parks Board for six years. She was awarded an honorary doctorate in Law from the University of Cape Town for her contribution to freedom and human rights. In 2014 she was awarded the French National Order of Merit by the Government of France.
Other new appointments to the NPI Board of Directors is marketing guru, Happy Ntshingila, former CEO of SuperSport as well as ABSA Group Marketing Executive. From leading Managing consulting firm IQ Business, executives, Corrie Verburg and Derek Hall complete the NPI Governance Consulting Board additions.
Creating innovative value and grass rooting BEE at community level will also play a major role. The NPI Board is committed to supporting its clients and the Government achieve these objectives. Furthermore, the finalisation of the BEE Sector Charter Codes (including the Mining Charter) will also take centre stage in 2016. With these considerable anticipated milestones to happen in the BEE industry, the new NPI Board of Director is excited and ready to continue Pioneering Equitable Growth in Africa.
