Corrie Verburg


Corrie is the IQ Business’s Commercial and Financial Officer. He has experience in financial reporting aligning these with strategic goals as well as business requirements and his responsibilities include all financial functions for the conclusion and sign-off of Annual Financial Statements.

Corrie has more than 25 years’ experience in business having extensively operated at an Executive level during this time. He started his career at SARS followed by a short stint of labour-broking concern. This was followed 9 years in the assurance industry operating at Executive level with responsibility for the full shared services function. In addition, a number of acquisitions were successfully concluded during his tenure. During this time, Corrie also acted as an asset consultant to a variety of clients.

Israel Noko

Founder & CEO

Israel is the Founder & CEO of NPI Governance Consulting (a leading BEE Advisory & ISO9001 accredited company). He is passionate about the intentions behind Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (“BEE”), including the economic transformation of South Africa. Israel’s experience has focussed on developing and executing strategies which would enable companies to better position themselves in the market and develop partnerships with companies and organizations that want to implement “business-sense” transformational strategies. With a proven track record of transformation in a variety of industries, in April 2018, NPI Governance Consulting was nominated at the Top Empowerment Awards as the “Fastest Growth SME of the Year”.
Israel has been involved in various mergers and acquisitions other general corporate / commercial transactions. He has also advised on BEE joint-venture structure, company formations and re-organisations. Israel has extensive experience in business entity formation and governance matters, M&A, and BEE financing transactions in a wide variety of sectors.
Furthermore, Israel also served on the Boards of a variety of different organisations/ companies and provides management with strategic input on compliance, risk management and corporate governance. In March 2018, national Minister of Higher Education & Training, Naledi Pandor appointed Israel to the Board of the BankSETA, the national training authority for the Banking and micro-lending industry and supports people development through partnerships, skills development, alleviating unemployment, creating a brighter future and enabling change.
With over 10 years of relationship management experience within the Public sector in South Africa and aboard, Israel has worked at the United Nations Environmental Program, the Canadian High Commission Trade Office (as Trade Commissioner) in South Africa, the Industrial Development Corporation of South Africa (as B-BBEE Advisor) bring a wealth of knowledge around government operations and programmes.
Israel studied Law and Social Sciences Diploma at the University of Warwick and a LL. B in Business Law at Coventry University, UK, and subsequently completed three Post-Graduate certificates with the Mandela School of Law (University of the Witwatersrand). Israel is a commentator in the press and business sector regarding transformation and sustainable development-related topics and has been invited to speak at several conferences on topics relating to transformation and sustainable development.

Derek Hall

Board Member

Derek is a 30-year veteran of business transformation, change, leadership development, and organisational effectiveness. He has operated successfully on both sides of the advisory and operations contexts with a demonstrated ability to rapidly spot and call out the real human issues affecting business performance.

Derek brings a strategic and human perspective to the team where he believes that everyone can and should contribute to strategy and business development and share in the wealth created.

He has worked with global and national clients across multiple industries with billion-dollar footprints affecting thousands of employees, customers and suppliers' lives. His mission is to facilitate the fluid integration of all organisational stakeholders to everyone's benefit.

Derek is a passionate business partner who has been deeply involved in NPI's growth and development over the past four years. He shares the business ideology of Pioneering Equitable Growth in Africa and has put this in to practice in 12 African countries to date.

Kuda Mukova CA(SA)

Non-Executive Director

As a Chartered Accountant, Kuda has over 15 years’ general consulting experience and has worked extensively in Southern
Africa. He is a leader in Risk, Analytics and Sustainability
team within IQbusiness. Among his extensive list of achievements, he
is also a SAICA training officer for trainee Chartered Accountants. Kuda advises clients on economic and social sustainability matters and enables clients to make profits with a
long-term purpose. He works across both the private and public sector. Moreover, he manages all the key clients and partner relationships. He has been involved in finance transformation for the last fifteen years.

Shirley Zinn

Board Member

Professor Shirley Zinn is the founder of Shirley Zinn Consulting that provides consulting and advisory services in HR, Transformation, Leadership and Education. She is an extraordinary Professor at the University of Pretoria’s Department of Human Resource Management, has recently been appointed as Adjunct Professor at the University of Cape Town. She is the Past President of the Institute for People Management South Africa and registered as Master HR Professional with South Africa Board for People Practice.

Shirley serves as Director on numerous boards including the Boards of Tuesday Consulting, Empowerment Capital, Knowledge Resources, Business Engage, Community Chest, and the Boston Consulting Group SA. In addition, she is the Advisor to the Board of Silvertree Internet Holdings. She also serves on the Take-Over Regulation Panel Board and on the Council of the University of Cape Town. She is a Trustee on the Nedbank Eyethu Community Trust, Ambassador for the Orbis Africa Charity, and the former Chairman of Starfish Greathearts Foundation.

Shirley is on the Advisory Boards of Monash South Africa, and the University of Pretoria’s Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences. She is the President for the Harvard Alumni Association South Africa and a Fellow of the Institute of Directors She was recently appointed as the Patron for South Africa Council of Business Women.

Shirley is a coach and mentor to several women across multiple industries. She has presented at numerous national and international conferences as a keynote speaker.

In 2015, she wrote her autobiography entitled “Swimming Upstream” which focuses on her personal and professional journey. It has officially been announced as a best-seller and she has conducted several “Swimming Upstream” talks nationally at corporates, schools, universities and charities, with the hope of motivating and inspiring especially youth and women that they can achieve despite adversity, and to never give up.

She holds a BA (University of the Western Cape); Higher Diploma in Education (University of the Western Cape); B.Ed Honours (UNISA); M.Ed (University of the Western Cape); Ed.M (Harvard) and Doctorate in Education (Ed.D) (Harvard).
