Here we go, here we go, here we go!!!!!!! The BEE Commission is REALLY making its presence felt.
A couple of days ago, the Associtation of BEE Professionals (ABP) issued a statement in which it stated that the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) formally recognised the custodians of the designation – the Association of B-BBEE Professionals (ABP) – as a professional body.
However, the BEE Commission has instructed ABP to publicly retract the statement it issued suggesting that it is a regulatory body for verification professionals in South Africa, which is misleading and untrue.
The BEE Commission has emphasized that the BEE legislation is clear, and any misleading messages to the contrary undermine the objectives that the B-BBEE Act seeks to achieve, and further frustrates the work of the B-BBEE Commission. Any company that issues a BEE certificate must be accredited by SANAS (www.sanas.org.za). Subsequently, ABP has issued a retraction yesterday, 14 September 2016 and has apologised for the confusion created.
The BEE Commission appeals to all players in this industry not to engage in conduct that undermine the objectives of B-BBEE as stern action will be taken.
